Scarlets Managing Director Jon Daniels said that the club’s gratitude to its supporters “cannot be understated” during an exclusive Q&A hosted by Crys16 on Wednesday night.
Jon Daniels and Scarlets Executive Chairman Simon Muderack were optimistic and enthusiastic about the club’s future as they answered a range of questions during an hour long online session with members hosted by Crys16 board member Owain Davies.
Simon Muderack gave those in attendance an update on the discussions regarding the Professional Rugby Agreement (PRA) with the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), and was confident that an agreement would be reached that will see the club thrive in the years to come.
Both were appreciative of the sincere and proactive public support from a number of local MPs in supporting the Scarlets future and highlighting the club’s vitally important economic, community and cultural contribution to Llanelli, Carmarthenshire and West Wales. MPs have outlined the key role that Scarlets rugby plays at the heart of society in this region, both historically, currently and into the future.
When asked about future make-up of the squad, Jon Daniels was excited to share that conversations to secure long term deals with a number of new arrivals this season were ongoing. Simon Muderack added that there was a noticeable change in a number of players this year from a leadership perspective which bodes well for 2025/26.
In an exciting new development, Jon Daniels added that the club would be continuing to show its commitment to the development of the women’s game in the region and would be looking to put forward an application to resurrect the Scarlets Women’s side to compete in next year’s Celtic Challenge tournament. This is obviously dependent on the ongoing discussions with the WRU around the wider Welsh rugby landscape but the club’s aspirations to support women’s rugby in the Scarlets region continues to be a priority.
Both were excited by the prospect of Investec Champions Cup rugby returning to Parc y Scarlets and seeing the squad continue to grow, with season ticket sales already outstripping the final number from this season.
