Fans of RC Vannes received a warm west Walian welcome to Parc y Scarlets by Crys16 Chair Barrie Jones during their recent visit for the EPCR Challenge Cup clash.
The Breton side – who billed the match as a “Celtic Derby” – brought a small but noisy group of fans to Llanelli for the match with many of their supporters sharing photos of local landmarks on social as they made their journey to the Parc.
With their only other away match in their debut season in Europe in Georgia against Black Lion, their match against the Scarlets was a landmark in their club’s history that many fans wanted to saviour.
“I was totally blown away both by the number and attitude of the supporters from Vannes”, said Jones who addressed their fans in the Tanner Banc Bar before the match.
“They were superb, both before and after the match. They were fantastic, lovely crew of fans and full value in the bar post match too!”
RC Vannes fan Quentin Haas was glad he made the trip: “We had a great experience in Llanelli. Four of us came over to see the match. We were able to chat with Scarlet supporters before and after the match at the stadium bar, and everyone was very friendly. We were also lucky enough to have some Welsh singing! A great trip despite the defeat! We are now waiting for the Scarlets to come to Vannes!”
